Empathy Awareness

See the person, not the label

My Mission

By sharing the authentic stories of individuals who face challenges such as special needs, dyslexia, infertility, allergies, ADHD, and diabetes—as well as the voices of those who walk beside them—my campaign aims to spark empathy and cultivate a deeper understanding in my readers. At its heart, the Empathy Awareness Campaign is a call to look beyond our differences and honor the dignity, resilience, and humanity that lie within us all.

100% of the participants I interviewed described experiencing some sort of bullying or exclusion.
What Does Empathy Look Like?

Empathy looks like listening without judgment, seeking to understand how others feel and responding with patience and kindness. It requires noticing when someone needs support—even if she doesn’t ask for it—and offering to help without making her feel less capable. And it means seeing people as more than their challenges, respecting their experiences, and treating them with the same care you would want for yourself.

About me

My name is Yaeli Baron. I’m a 17-year-old from Riverdale, New York, and a student at Naaleh High School. By sharing the stories of people who face challenges such as special needs and learning differences, I hope to help others see the world from multiple perspectives and build a kinder, more inclusive environment.

I’ve learned to live with something that could take my life — and still choose to live fully, safely, and with empathy for others.
